When chlorine + antimicrobials = unintended consequences
A recent study suggests "...that the triclosan antimicrobial agent used in household dishwashing soaps reacts with chlorinated water to produce significant quantities of chloroform. The research also suggests that the reaction of triclosan with chlorine could be producing highly chlorinated dioxins in the presence of sunlight." In case you're wondering, chloroform and highly chlorinated dioxins are nasty chemicals.
All low-fat diets are not equal...
A low-fat diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans has twice the cholesterol-lowering power of a conventional low-fat diet, according to a new study from the Stanford University School of Medicine.
The Bells
The Bells (Greg, Carol, Cade, and Cian) arrived from Knoxville by way of Chicago late Sunday night. We had dinner at the Korean House Monday evening and then went home for ice cream.
