This afternoon was spent at the Midland Center for the Arts, checking out the various exhibits including "Designs Through Time: Motorcycles, Past, Present and Future":
This afternoon we went sledding with the Lashlees at the City Forest.
After church this morning we had lunch with the Wanous and Dresden families at the China Palace buffet. Then we went home and watched the Steelers-Colts game. My expectations weren't too high, so I was prepared for a Steelers loss. Then they jumped out to a dominating 21-3 lead. Then the Steelers and the refs tried to give the game to the Colts. We were thrilled to see the NFL's most -accurate kicker miss a 46-yard field goal to preserve the Steelers' win. It reminded me of last year's playoff game against the Jets, except the Steelers deserved to lose against the Jet's but benefited from missed field goals. Big Ben is now the first quarterback of the Super-Bowl-era to lead his team to the conference championship in both of his first two seasons.
Here's a joke that Elliot told recently, apparently one he made up:
Why did the football players say "Amen"?
Because they were praying football.
The Moores and Sullivans met in Midland to celebrate Christmas on the day after.
Santa came to Grandma B's house and left the boys a bunch of gifts. The favorite toy for both of them was the set of football men. The Birdwells had Christmas dinner at their house with the Cliffords, Uncle Bud, Moores, and Sullivans in attendance.
The annual Christmas Eve party was at the Duvall's house this year. The Sullivans arrived in time to go with us. Afterwards we also got a chance to see Prentice and Leslie when they came over to the Birdwells' house late Christmas Eve.
