On Saturday we visited the Lake of the Clouds. It was on a hike to this location that we were tormented by biting flies in 1994. There are plenty of flies around this time too, but they're not biting.
Here's a festival poster.
Friday night's headliner was Ember Swift. Lisa thought she was very entertaining but Jonathan could get past the impression that she is a Ani DiFranco impersonator. He doesn't really care for Ani either.
Grandma and Grandpa Moore left this afternoon to head back to NC. They had stopped here for a few days on their way back from visiting Eli Sullivan. Lisa also left to go down state for John Gresham's wedding. The boys stayed home. We watched a little pre-season football, spent some of dad's birthday money on a new set of wireless head phones at Best Buy, ate dinner at the food court in the mall, bought mom a new bike tire inner tube at Target, tried out our new WiFi service (FreedomLink) from the parking lot of Barnes & Noble, and watched "Aloha, Scooby-Doo" for movie night.
We also spent a few hours today at the Midland County Fair...riding rides,
viewing animals, etc. Elliot's favorite was the rollercoaster.
Elliot set a new personal record today for consecutive basketball dribbles
We went to the Great Lakes Ice Cream Company after dinner tonight because Finn jumped off the side into the pool and also kicked his feet in the water today, two things he refused to do in swim class earlier this summer. We should have called the family Somasi to meet us there.
