Finn's 4th Birthday

Finn turned 4 on Saturday and had a costume party with a few friends to celebrate. Here are some photos:

Soccer Finn No Fluke

Turns out Finn's goal-scoring, assist making spree in his 2nd soccer game wasn't a fluke. Grandma and Grandpa B, Aunt Robin, Lisa, Elliot, and I got to watch him put on another show Saturday morning. Here's a few photos and videos. Unfortunately, they tend to be a little blurry. Finn is pretty cute...especially the second video where he scores a goal and then skips down the field while waving to the crowd. Also, I need to learn to keep my mouth shut when recording these videos. I sound so lame yelling "Run!", "Pass it!", etc. IMG_0545.JPG

Baseball and Soccer on Saturday

Finn's second soccer game was on Saturday. Elliot and I missed it because we were at the little league opening ceremony at the Dow Diamond. It's too bad we missed it, because he scored 3 goals and had two assists. He would have had a fourth goal, but a teammate stole the ball from him. His first game didn't give us a hint that he'd be such a goal-scorer. Apparently, once he got a taste for goal-scoring he didn't look back. Later in the afternoon, Elliot had his first baseball game of the season. Here are some photos and videos. In the baseball videos, I'm the frumpy guy coaching first.

Finn's First Soccer Game

Finn's first soccer game was Saturday afternoon. He seemed to have a good time running around. He made a point to tell me that he didn't fall down though once he came close to falling over in the goal. It did seem that one of his main objectives was to adjust his running trajectory to avoid any collisions with many of the other players who were a head taller than he...and with the secondary objective of getting near the ball and kicking it as a nice-to-have bonus. Here are a few photos and a video:

Look Mom I'm Flying!!!!

This is another funny (kind of scary) story involving Finn. Elliot, Finn and I (Lisa) were headed out to take Elliot to his Tae Kwon Do practice. I had finally gotten the boys out of the house (a difficult task these days with all the snow gear). We stepped outside and noticed the garage door was still down so with the boys by my side I entered the code into the key pad to open the door. As the door was opening I took a few steps over to Elliot to help him zip his coat (I think) and I heard Finn calling "Look mom I'm flying"...... I didn't immediately look because I was preoccupied with whatever I was doing with Elliot. A split second later I heard a much more urgent cry "mom, mom, help". Thankfully I decided to turn and look to see Finn rising above the ground holding on to the handle on the garage door. In the split second it took me to take the 2 steps to his rescue he was just about to reach the top of the opening......I had to quickly grab him by his legs to get him down before he was gobbled up. Why the door didn't stop lifting when it felt his weight, I do not know. All I know is we are very blessed he didn't get hurt! Still shaken up on the way to Tae Kwon Do, I lectured both boys on how dangerous that was and how we were very lucky we weren't heading to the hospital right now because Finn would have really gotten hurt falling from such a great height. Finn promptly replied, "Don't worry mom, I would have landed on my feet."
